💍 Ring Size Chart (India)

Scintiller uses the Indian ring sizing system, which is circumference-based and numerical. Each whole size represents a 1mm step in the inner circumference of the ring. All our product pages list sizes in Indian numbers.

Measure in the Evening

Fingers are at their natural largest after 6 PM. Avoid measuring first thing in the morning or after exercise.

Measure in Millimetres

MM is the global standard for jewellery sizing. Always use mm — not cm or inches — for accuracy.

When Between Sizes

Always choose the larger size. A slightly loose ring is more comfortable than one you can't remove.

👩 Women's Rings

Most Common Size 9 – 14

Most Indian women fall between Indian size 9 and 14. The average is around size 10–11. Petite hands typically run size 7–10, while broader hands may reach size 14–16.

Index and middle fingers are usually half to a full size larger than the ring finger.

👨 Men's Rings

Most Common Size 17 – 22

Men's sizes typically range between Indian size 17 and 22. The average falls around size 19–20. Wide-band rings (over 6mm) should be sized up by half to a full size for comfort.

The knuckle is often larger than the base of the finger — measure both and choose the larger.

Wide Band Rings (over 5mm): Wider bands feel tighter because they cover more surface area of the finger. If you're ordering a ring with a wide band, we recommend going up by half to one full size from your usual measurement. When in doubt, contact us for guidance before placing your order.

📐 How to Measure Your Ring Size at Home

You don't need to visit a jeweller to find your ring size. Choose either of the two methods below — both are accurate when done carefully. We recommend measuring 2–3 times and using the average result.

The Paper Strip Method

✦ Most Recommended

The easiest and most accurate at-home method. All you need is a thin strip of paper (or non-stretchy thread), a pen, and a ruler.

Cut a thin strip of paper about 10cm long and 5mm wide.
Wrap it snugly around the base of the finger you'll wear the ring on — not too tight, not too loose. It should feel like a comfortable ring.
Mark the point where the paper overlaps itself using a pen.
Lay the paper flat and measure the marked length in millimetres with a ruler.
This measurement is your finger's circumference. Match it to the size chart on the Ring Sizes tab.

💡 Pro tip: Measure after 6 PM when fingers are naturally at their largest. Measure 2–3 times and average the results.

The Existing Ring Method

✦ Quick Double-Check

If you already own a ring that fits the correct finger perfectly, you can use it to find your size in seconds.

Choose a ring that fits comfortably on the finger you'll be wearing the new ring on.
Place the ring on a flat surface in good lighting.
Use a ruler to measure the inner diameter of the ring — measure straight across the inside, through the centre.
Note the measurement in millimetres.
Match the diameter to the size chart on the Ring Sizes tab (Diameter column).

💡 Pro tip: Use a digital calliper if you have one — it gives far more precise readings than a standard ruler.

Expert Tips for an Accurate Measurement

Measure in the Evening

Fingers swell slightly throughout the day and are at their largest in the evening. Morning measurements can be up to half a size smaller.

Temperature Matters

Cold fingers can be up to a full size smaller than warm ones. Measure at room temperature, not outdoors in winter.

Avoid Measuring After Eating

Salt, alcohol, and heavy food can cause fingers to swell temporarily. Avoid measuring immediately after a meal.

Measure Multiple Times

A single measurement can be slightly off. Take 3 measurements across different days and use the most common result.

Account for the Knuckle

If your knuckle is notably wider than the base of your finger, the ring needs to pass over it. Size for the knuckle, not just the base.

Wide Bands = Size Up

Rings wider than 5mm feel tighter. For wide-band styles, go up half a size from your usual measurement.
